Pretty in Pink from Wendy's Quilts and More

Here's my latest finish - Pretty in Pink. As I said last week, I had to rescue my Tilda fabrics from a plan gone wrong.  There's little snippets of Tilda in this quilt, but they seem to have been over taken by Tula Pink!

I enjoy watching Tula Pink's videos each week on Instagram (or Facebook) and she often talks about how all of her collections are designed to work together.  I've used fabrics from three of her collections here and they really do all work together.

The Lazy Stripe pink sashing and Dragonfly border are both ...

Pretty! from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've just picked up this quilt from my long arm quilter at Busy Bee Quilt Shop and I love it.

I don't want to post a photo of the whole quilt yet because I'm going to put the binding on this weekend and it will be worth the wait.

Tilda meets Tula

I didn't set out to make a pretty pink quilt, but now that I have I'm really happy with it.

You may remember that a few weeks ago I started puddling around with some pretty Tilda fabrics.  I rushed in to making a ...

orange tiny houses from Making A Lather

I have orange tiny houses for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I may have 2 rounds of oranges in the box already. But every year the scraps are different. And, it will take forever to make enough tiny houses  to make a quilt.

I found a box of leftover pieces from Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt frolic, and decided to put the HSTS together as pinwheels. I have them next to the sewing machine and I use them as leader/enders until they are gone.

Pinwheel Frolic Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

The Pinwheel Frolic quilt from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

When pioneers trekked west, they took only what could fit in one small covered wagon. Most worldly treasures were left behind.

But quilts? Quilts were an absolute necessity. They were used as shelter; they were used for warmth. Quilts swaddled babies and protected fragile family heirlooms as they bumped and jostled along the dusty Oregon Trail.

The Pinwheel Frolic quilt from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Those antique pioneer quilts were made from scraps, skillfully stitched by hand into simple 9-patches, log cabins, and pinwheels. 200 years later, we are making those same old-fashioned patterns, and they’re just as pretty as ever!

This week Jenny is working on a ...

Finished pinwheels and Free Motion Mavericks from Quilting & Learning

Welcome to Free Motion Mavericks, Week 288. This week I tried out different free motion quilting (FMQ) designs on the rest of the pinwheel blocks in the Pinwheels and Stars Baby Quilt.

FMQ the last three pinwheel blocks

Here are the final three pinwheel blocks. I didn't realise until I added the images here that all three blocks have FMQ in both the background and patterned fabrics.

FMQ echoed leaves

FMQ three lines within each triangle

You may remember that I drew 10 different possible FMQ designs for these pinwheel blocks. Before ...

unicorn finish from Making A Lather

The unicorn quilt is finally done. I started this for my Granddaughter the fall of 2018. I didn't have a pattern, but, I had a panel and a layer cake. I prefer mindless sewing, so, I kept procrastinating. There is a certain amount of guilt that goes with procrastinating, and, that was the motivation to finally put my head down and get this done. And, it will be a good excuse to see my Grandchildren. It is about 70 x 80. I used a plain pink sheet for the back. I used a simple stipple with a few flowers ...
